Are you a visionary leader passionate about shaping the present and next generation of entrepreneurial youth, women, men, business owners, Village Business Unit leaders (VBUL), families, cooperatives, communities, small businesses, employees and managers in established business and innovators?Our Institute is seeking a dynamic Director of Training & Capacity Building to lead our mission of empowering individuals, businesses and communities through high-impact entrepreneurship and innovation empowerment programs, education and ecosystem development.As the Director of Training & Capacity Building, you will be the primary architect of our empowerment strategy. You will oversee the design, implementation, and scaling of world-class training and capacity programs, incubators, and accelerators in the Institute’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centres, in Zimbabwe’s 10 provinces.The Director of Training & Capacity building will provide strategic leadership in designing and executing training and capacity building empowerment programs for entrepreneurship and innovation, and curriculum development. This strategic position drives ImbaHub Empowerment Institute’s empowerment vision and mission to support national strategic goals and empowerment initiatives in alignment with national strategic goals, empowerment initiatives and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of regional and global organizations.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership. Develop and execute a multi-year roadmap for training and capacity building that aligns with the organization’s overarching empowerment goals.
- Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of training and capacity-building programs in the Institute’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centres.
- Forge alliances with academic institutions, government bodies, and NGOs to expand the reach and depth of our training and capacity-building programs.
- Oversee curriculum development, accreditation processes, and partnerships with higher learning institutions.
- Oversee the creation of high-impact, culturally responsive, and inclusive empowerment for diverse people.
- Lead and ensure the effective supervision of trainers, facilitators, and staff to ensure high-quality outputs and outcomes of the empowerment programs.
- Lead and ensure program managers and coordinators are trained on basic financial literacy and budget ownership to ensure decentralized accountability.
- Oversee the recruitment and management of a high-performing team of trainers, mentors, and program managers.
- Oversee the procurement of external consultants, software licenses (LMS), and training materials, ensuring competitive bidding and cost-efficiency.
- Lead and oversee the preparation and presentation of monthly and quarterly reports on training and capacity-building expenditures versus budget allocations highlighting variances.
- Design and maintain a comprehensive framework of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure training and capacity-building effectiveness, participant retention, and post-training success.
- Establish robust Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) frameworks to track the success and long-term impact of the Institute’s empowerment programs.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s Degree or PhD in Education, Development Studies, International Development, Organizational Development, Economics, or related field (Doctorate preferred).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in training and capacity-building, or academic leadership.
- Demonstrated record of strategic leadership and management of training and capacity building programs.
- Pedagogical Expertise. Deep understanding of adult learning theory (andragogy), participatory training methodologies, and digital learning platforms.
- Proven track record of designing training and capacity-building programs for diverse population groups including underserved or marginalized communities.
- Exceptional public speaking and writing skills, with the ability to inspire diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Rapid Authoring Tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Canva, or AI-driven video tools like Veo) to create engaging, culturally relevant content.
- Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) to ensure digital training is accessible to persons with disabilities.
- Knowledge of Synchronizing training data with Donor Databases (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) to provide real-time impact reports to stakeholders.
Required Attributes, Competencies & Skills
- Proficiency in managing Learning Management Systems like Moodle, TalentLMS, or Absorb to track learner progress and automate certifications.Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to use tools like Google Analytics 4 (GA4) or Tableau to visualize participant success rates and program drop-off points.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to cultivate symbiotic relationships with corporate partners, government agencies, and international NGOs to expand the Institute’s reach and strengthen its impact.
